Officiating

Netball continues to grow around the world with over 20 million women and girls playing the sport which can be attributed to the success of major events such as the Netball World Youth Cup 2017, Gaborone, Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast, and the Netball World Cup 2019, Liverpool. Through World Class Officiating, World Netball is committed to developing and improving officiating for international events.

There are two key strands to officiating: Match Officials (two umpires and a reserve) and Technical Officials (scorers, timekeepers and any other officials specified for an event). As with coaching, the approach to Match and Technical Official development varies throughout the world. A number of World Netball Members have developed resources for Match and Technical Officials. Many make these widely available and can be found via their websites or by contacting National Associations directly.

At an international level, World Netball oversees the development and implementation of the International Netball Umpire Award (INUA) and World Netball provides a World Netball Technical Officials Manual which focuses on international events.
