Welcome to your newsletter from the International Netball Federation.

As part of our commitment to Governing with Integrity, the INF is working with our Membership to promote safeguarding and the welfare of all of our participants including children, administrators, technical officials and coaches. This week, we’ve got an insight into each of these groups, in countries as diverse as Tonga and Lesotho. We also bring you news from the Commonwealth Games Federation and Netball Australia.

Gibraltar

Young officials in Gibraltar continue to receive support to develop their skills. These young volunteers were involved in scoring and timekeeping at a tournament with local junior teams and a visiting school side from England.

Tonga

New coaches on the island of ‘Eua, Tonga, have received training to continue the development of netball in their area. After a number of sessions, the participants were delighted to receive their Level 1 coaching certificates.

Africa

Africa Netball recently held a safeguarding workshop in Johannesburg for its members. Pictured are the delegates, who came from Botswana, Ivory Coast, Malawi, Namibia, Seychelles, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Switzerland

Congratulations to Switzerland’s latest cohort of C Award umpires. Nineteen were successful in achieving the qualification at an assessment weekend in March. The development doesn’t stop there, four were also successful in achieving their B Award qualification earlier this week.

Lesotho

Netballers in Lesotho have benefited from a national Coaching and Umpiring Seminar, in partnership with UNICEF and KFC.

International Day of Sport for Development and Peace
Uganda and Loughborough Lightning netballer, Peace Proscovia, took part in the 2ndCommonwealth Debate of Sport and Sustainable Development to mark International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.  She is pictured alongside Louise Martin CBE, President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, holding up white cards for peace.

Netball Australia appoints new CEO
Congratulations to Marne Fechner who was last week appointed CEO of Netball Australia. Paolina Hunt, Chair of Netball Australia’s Board of Directors, said the board was unanimous in the appointment and believes that Fechner will develop and enhance the future of netball in Australia.
