Additional tickets for the Glasgow 2014 Netball Finals have sold out today in just three hours.
The tickets which went on sale at 11am GMT (Thursday, Feb 20) were snapped up by fans.
Glasgow 2014 announced yesterday (Wednesday, Jan 19) that up to 4000 new tickets would be available for sale.
This followed confirmation by the Organising Committee last month that the Finals of the Netball competition had been moved to the SSE Hydro, the city’s newest venue, doubling the number of spectators who would have the opportunity to see the world’s top Netball teams battle it out in the Bronze and Gold medal matches from 10am on Sunday, August 3.
Commenting, David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 Chief Executive said:
“It’s a real thrill to see tickets for this world-class showcase for Netball being snapped up so quickly.
“What a great vote of support for Glasgow 2014 and the sport of Netball and brings with it a fantastic opportunity to see the game played at the highest levels by its global stars.”
The new tickets for the Netball Finals – which take place on the closing day of the Games – will be among the last medals awarded at Glasgow 2014.
Opportunities to watch live world-class sport still remain in Badminton, Boxing, Lawn Bowls, Rugby Sevens, Squash, Weightlifting and Para-Sport Powerlifting while there is limited availability for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
The Glasgow 2014 ticketing programme has enjoyed unprecedented success since its launch in August 2013, ensuring 4500 Commonwealth athletes competing for Gold and glory in Glasgow will do so in packed stadia, and also confirming Glasgow 2014 as one of the most popular events in Scotland’s history.
