Northern Ireland claimed their first win, while Malawi, South Africa and Uganda secured their second victory of the campaign on day six.
Barbados 39 – 49 Northern Ireland
The action started in Pool A where the Bajan Gems met Northern Ireland. Prior to the match, Barbados had only one victory to their name which came against Fiji, while Northern Ireland were still searching for their first win.
The first quarter was very tight with Northern Ireland just taking it by one. However, it was Barbados who lead at half time, 24-20, following a good second quarter display.
Elaine Rice’s side came back after halftime to take a low scoring third quarter, 10-5, to lead by one going into the final stanza.
Northern Ireland turned it up a gear in the final fifteen, scoring 19 which helped secure their first win of Gold Coast 2018.

Scotland 50 – 51 Malawi
Over to Pool B where Scotland and Malawi treated everybody to a heart racing match. Both sides had one win under their belt so far. Scotland defeated Wales on day three, and Malawi stunned the Silver Ferns on day four.
The Thistles won three out of the four quarters, however, Malawi did just enough to take their second win of the campaign.
After the Thistles took quarter one, 13-12, the Queens responded with a 16-10 second quarter, which gave them a five point lead at half time. This lead ultimately won Malawi the game as Scotland couldn’t quite overturn it.
Scotland will play Uganda in their final prelim match while Malawi will play Wales.

South Africa 92 – 28 Fiji
The Proteas bounced back from their defeat against Australia in some style against Fiji. They scored over 20 in each quarter while also conceding less than ten in each quarter.
Renske Stoltz provided 31 assists while also scoring 16 herself. Most of the assists helped Sigrid Burger who scored 56 of South Africa’s 92. For Fiji, Laisani Waqa lead the goal scoring charts, converting on 19 occasions.
Norma Plummer’s side now have two wins from four and currently occupy third spot in Pool A. The Fiji Pearls are still in search of their first win.
South Africa play Barbados in their final prelim game while Fiji play Northern Ireland.

Day six finished with Wales and Uganda. The She Cranes were looking for win number two while Wales were in search of their first victory.
Uganda raced ahead in the first quarter and remained in front throughout. They opened up a 19 point lead at half time. The lead increased in the second half with yet another clinical performance by Peace Proscovia. She converted 56 times to take her tournament tally to 151 goals.
Welsh shooter Chelsea Lewis was also having a good game. She scored 34 times, ensuring that Wales kept ticking over on the scoreboard. Ultimately, Uganda’s lead was too much and they took home the win.
